DanceMakers, Inc. is a non profit dance studio primarily serving the Washington DC suburban Prince George's County area. Our main goal is to produce many talented, award-winning dancers for many years to come.

DanceMakers offers a variety of classes including Ballet, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Tumbling, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Turns, Technique and Floor Gymnastics.  With our conscientious instruction and perseverance, we have helped many youth achieve their dreams and we are committed to quality dance education and professionalism.

In addition to teaching physical conditioning and rhythm, it is our goal that students enjoy dance while learning proper technique and discipline.

Our students come from all over the Washington DC area, and from within Prince Georges County, Maryland, including the following communities:  Lanham, Fort Meade, Upper Marlboro, Brandywine, Fort Washington, Greenbelt, Beltsville, Clinton, College Park, Laurel, Hyattsville, Landover, Bowie, Glenn Dale, Mitchellville, Cheverly and Crofton.

About our Director

Our executive director is Ms. Robin Angelica Pitts, a native Washingtonian educated in the Archdiocese Council system of Prince Georges County, Maryland who completed her college education at Howard University. In 1992, the Lord Jesus Christ placed a vision in her heart to become an entrepreneur so she opened her first dance studio "Pizzazz Studio of Dance (PSD)" in 1993. In 2000, the Lord once again placed in her spirit that the youth needed more, so this time she created DanceMakers, Inc., which is a non-profit 501c3 organization.

Ms. Pitts, a dance instructor for 17 years in all areas of dance for ages 3 to adult, is a member of Dance Educators of America and the International Association of Blacks in Dance.  She has led her students to “Winning” national, regional and local dance competitions.

She has represented talents on “Showtime At The Apollo,” “The Jenny Jones Show,” the Civil War Memorial featuring Dionne Warwick, the BET Tribute to Urban Youth Choir featuring Clifton Davis, Washington Post Scholarship Awards, and the Six Flags Dance Expo.  She was the Executive Producer of the 2000 production of the “Chocolate Nutcracker” featuring Chante Moore. She has casted for Dr. Dre's “Phone Tap” and Wu Tan Clan's “Cross My Heart” music videos.

Qualified instructors are available to teach all ages and levels of subjects listed; however, if there are not enough students of a particular age group or level, the courses may not be offered.  The length of class is determined by age and level of student.

All Star Dance Troupes' Competitions & Workshops

We have competitive troupes that our students from age 3 to 12 have the opportunity to audition for with our director making the final decision on who will join them.

We are proud to announce our All Star Juniors Dance Troupe 2009 were 1st Place Overall Dance Champions (Junior Divisions) at OnStage Dance Competition, Revolution Dance Competition & Celebrity Dance Competition.

One Step Forward Summer Camp

Our camp starts in June and will end in August with a spectacular program displaying the talents of all camp attendees.  Student age groups are 5 – 8 and 9 – 12.  Both groups will be given instruction in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, *HipHop, Tutoring and Arts & Crafts.

One Step Forward Youth Before and After School Care Program -

An enrichment, tutoring, and mentoring program for ages 5-12 offered Monday thru Friday 6:30am – 9:30am and 2:00pm - 6:30pm.  Tutoring in Math and Language Arts is provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We provide one-way transportation from local school districts to the studio; however, parents must make the necessary provisions with the schools. All students will receive a snack, supervised homework study, and 1 class per week of performing arts training in subject areas of gymnastics, tap, jazz, and or ballet.  Discounts are given for siblings.  Spaces are limited!

V.I.P. Birthday Parties

Let us help you plan and host your next party at DanceMakers, Inc. Our trained instructors will lead your group in a safe, dance environment. Our birthday parties include one hour of dance in hip-hop instruction.

Party Packages for ages 3-16:
 
Basic Party Package I:

• $20 per child (minimum of 15 guests including birthday child)
• 1 hour of private dance instruction
• 30 minute Birthday party celebration
• Birthday party invitations

• $10 per child for each additional guest
• $75 Non-Refundable security deposit required for all reservations

Deluxe Party Package II:

• $28 per child (minimum of 15 guests including birthday child)
• 1 hour of private dance instruction
• 60 minute Birthday party celebration
• Birthday party invitations
• Birthday Cake and Juice
• Arts & Crafts project
• 1 slice of pizza per child
• $14 per child for each additional guest
• $100 Non - Refundable security deposit is required for all reservations
